At what is good Wordpress?
If you try to compare this blogging software, Wordpress, with Joomla CMS don’t forget about that wordpress is just a blogging platform, while joomla is a free open source content management system for publishing content. So, it depends what you need for blog or portal. I agree that is pretty difficult to compare them, but I’ll try to do this by compare them as personal publishing platforms. Even completely different software can be compared in terms of expandability, usability, speed and potential for future growth.
At what is good Wordpress?
Some would say just for blogging. Nothing is more false, Wordpress is a CMS, who does not know wordpress is a Content Management System. Wordpress world is full of gracious people who have created thousands of plugins and attractive themes that you would like more than that, most true that those plugins are for blogging, but if you know where to look you will find exactly what you want.
If you are looking for a simple CMS, especially for blogging, I would recommend using WordPress software. It is easy to install and quick to use. And has options for new bloggers and professionals as well - from one-click to install on your own writing plugins. Even better, there is strong community able to provide advice and help much beyond what a commercial option would provide.
As speaking about speed, I don’t think it is right to compare Joomla and Wordpress, being absolute differently targeted. WordPress is specifically built for blogs, is “smaller” than Joomla and consume fewer resources, so that I think is the best option for anyone who wants to start a blog.
If we look in terms of potential, Wordpress is much better. Being simple and fast when it comes to publishing, is just putting all your information on a page. While Joomla uses three levels of external features and I’m little confused why one would need three kinds of external objects to add some functionality. I think that this all ads just make the work more complex and more confused. It would be simpler to use just some kind of Module interface for both tasks.
Wordpress, I think is the most beloved platform for the search engines, no matter how thick is a blog, it will be fully indexed. Google loves unique content and text, and WP is perfect platform for it. I agree that Joomla is more powerful as a CMS, but now, at v2.7 with revolutionary changes in core Wordpress may outperform Joomla as a CMS.
Wordpress uses from the beginning only one external code interface – so it uses less code. You do not need modules or components or php knowledge to get 10 recent articles - three rows of code with minimum changes from the main loop. Wordpress developers are focused on publishing content and providing developers with one and flexible interface to core functions.
Sometimes is going, to have problems with hosting, and you are going to move your blog elsewhere. WP comes with many features in this chapter. Thanks to plugins can do Backup-Restore, Database optimization and other tools for migration. WP was able to do certain procedures accessible to all.
What can I say; Wordpress can be used in everything: blogs, sites of presentation, photo galleries, shopping and more. It remains only to attempt!
