When you start to look for brilliant blogging software, take in account that the best blogging platform is one that best suits your needs. I do not believe in a general classification and in a general valid solution. That is in the case of e-commerce platforms. There are many variations, some as rich in features or other options. The best is that which meets the requirements of the future store.
So we cannot compare joomla with wordpress simply because wordpress is a blogging platform, while with joomla can do a portal complex. So, it depends what you do: blog or portal.
Why joomla? Because I discovered the power of this CMS in building fast and cheap a site and that I realized that developers statements under which Joomla! Is one of the most powerful Open Source system for content management on the planet, being used worldwide from simple websites to complex corporate applications and is simple to install and use, are true.
One of the reasons why I choose Joomla:
* Costs very little for maintenance and development
* SEO and SEM optimized
* Very flexible, intuitive and easy to use
* Manage text, images, documents and media files
* Unlimited possibilities of development of web pages
* Has wide spread and support a strong and very active web community
Flexible layout is the chapter where Joomla is just better than WordPress. Trying to style a WP template within a Joomla template was too complicated and painful. The process involved searching through WP stylesheets and php files to try and resolve conflicts. But in Joomla, I could just have the content presented as a “blog” and could style it easily and in the way I like.
Another comparative observation between Wordpress and Joomla, but which cannot be moved to Chapter of professionalism, as a comparison “to the first eye”, irrelevant: Joomla is a database more complex with some 36 tables, compared with just 10 of WordPress. For a comparison “as it must”; should be an analysis of all fields, the degree of inter-dependence and their influence on SEO.
The installation procedure of Joomla is simple, something more complex than WordPress because it requires some initial configuration, that WordPress are “default”.
In addition to these Joomla is free and can be quite easily customize by many using multiple extensions (components, modules, mambots) and templates from the market. Some may be free (they are developed under the GNU General Public License), other components are trading and can buy directly from producers Sites. Average mark for an extension is under $ 100.
Basically Joomla! is “composed” of two parts: one part of the front end (which will appear in your visitor’s browser) and a back end (administrator - where only you have access). Of administrator, the administration is virtually complete map and when I say that is complete you don’t need to do programming for you to add something on the site. In short, using Joomla! and its free extensions, you can make yourself a website for free.
Wordpress its really good at a blogging tool but Joomla, by comparison is a full blown CMS that can blog if you want it to easily. There are some minor features missing, but you make this up and more with all the powerful features of a mature CMS you can leverage into your blog.

If you try to compare this blogging software, Wordpress, with Joomla CMS don’t forget about that wordpress is just a blogging platform, while joomla is a free open source content management system for publishing content. So, it depends what you need for blog or portal. I agree that is pretty difficult to compare them, but I’ll try to do this by compare them as personal publishing platforms. Even completely different software can be compared in terms of expandability, usability, speed and potential for future growth.
At what is good Wordpress?
Some would say just for blogging. Nothing is more false, Wordpress is a CMS, who does not know wordpress is a Content Management System. Wordpress world is full of gracious people who have created thousands of plugins and attractive themes that you would like more than that, most true that those plugins are for blogging, but if you know where to look you will find exactly what you want.
If you are looking for a simple CMS, especially for blogging, I would recommend using WordPress software. It is easy to install and quick to use. And has options for new bloggers and professionals as well - from one-click to install on your own writing plugins. Even better, there is strong community able to provide advice and help much beyond what a commercial option would provide.
As speaking about speed, I don’t think it is right to compare Joomla and Wordpress, being absolute differently targeted. WordPress is specifically built for blogs, is “smaller” than Joomla and consume fewer resources, so that I think is the best option for anyone who wants to start a blog.
If we look in terms of potential, Wordpress is much better. Being simple and fast when it comes to publishing, is just putting all your information on a page. While Joomla uses three levels of external features and I’m little confused why one would need three kinds of external objects to add some functionality. I think that this all ads just make the work more complex and more confused. It would be simpler to use just some kind of Module interface for both tasks.
Wordpress, I think is the most beloved platform for the search engines, no matter how thick is a blog, it will be fully indexed. Google loves unique content and text, and WP is perfect platform for it. I agree that Joomla is more powerful as a CMS, but now, at v2.7 with revolutionary changes in core Wordpress may outperform Joomla as a CMS.
Wordpress uses from the beginning only one external code interface – so it uses less code. You do not need modules or components or php knowledge to get 10 recent articles - three rows of code with minimum changes from the main loop. Wordpress developers are focused on publishing content and providing developers with one and flexible interface to core functions.
Sometimes is going, to have problems with hosting, and you are going to move your blog elsewhere. WP comes with many features in this chapter. Thanks to plugins can do Backup-Restore, Database optimization and other tools for migration. WP was able to do certain procedures accessible to all.
What can I say; Wordpress can be used in everything: blogs, sites of presentation, photo galleries, shopping and more. It remains only to attempt!

Further, we’ll try to make a short description of these two great systems. The one you choose depends on what you plan to create. If you need a website, then Joomla is perfect for you, but if you intend to blog, use Wordpress.
To understand better this concepts you may see more about them: Joomla is a free Content Management Open Source system, written in PHP, intended for content publication on inter and intra net via SQL databases. Is the most powerful editor for web pages, from professional software free range. Joomla is stable, fast, powerful and easy to use, generates a clean html code, concise, has extensive capabilities relating to databases and, most importantly, it does not require any knowledge about html, php, etc.
Also it was created with the idea to make easy to develop a website. Joomla help you skip many steps in publishing a website and focus on the content of the site. Joomla comes with an installer program simple to use, provides powerful management tools and is very stable.
Meanwhile, WordPress is one of the most popular blogging platforms. WordPress is the largest blogging platform which benefits from its own server. Daily used by hundreds of thousands of people who post new articles on the blog or respond to comments. WordPress was created for the community and is an Open Source project. WordPress uses PHP and MySQL technology and is ideal for both, beginners being intuitive and easy to use, and for experienced bloggers.
Is an excellent platform for blogging, but it also may be a worthy support taken into account for developing a website. Increasingly more developers give up building a website from 0 and focus on WordPress platform customization.
